Unexpected evacuations in the remote Kimberley region are an extremely costly exercise! For this reason, travel insurance is absolutely essential. Some clients prefer to take insurance through their credit card companies - please check that this insurance covers unlimited evacuation costs as many don't.

ambulance cover
We have been advised by St. John's that the ambulance service does not cover the remote Kimberley coast. Be careful, if you call your state's ambulance service and get someone new who doesn't know what they're talking about, they may advise that they do indeed cover the region. Be sure to double check as we have been advised on numerous occasions that the ambulance service definately does not include the Kimberley coast. For further information, please phone:

flights in and out of the kimberley
There are daily flights in and out of Broome, Kununurra and Darwin. Please note: cruises that begin or end in Wyndham include a transfer from / to Kununurra. Due to the amount of schedule changes and the constantly changing prices of fares, we recommend that clients book their own flights. The cheapest fares are available on the websites listed below (available for purchase within a year of travel).

Twice weekly flights operating as of April 2011. Connecting Queensland to Western Australia has now become more accessible than ever!
Qantas is pleased to announce that direct flights will be available as of 3 April 2011 from Brisbane to Broome twice a week. Choose to fly on a Qantas B737 - 800 direct from Brisbane to Broome on Thursdays and Sundays to meet your Kimberley cruise. Flights will open for sale today for travel from 03 April 2011. Reservations can be made with the Qantas Reservations Office on 13 13 13, or your local travel agent. Please note that Qantas' exisiting services from Melbourne and Sydney will continue to operate.

TELEPHONE RECEPTION
There is mobile phone reception in Broome and limited reception in Kununurra (not Optus). There is no reception along the Kimberley coastline - satellite phones are carried aboard each boat, but are very expensive to use and usually only used in emergencies.

Planning on driving yourself to the Kimberley? No problems! For a small fee you can leave your car at a secure storage facility.
