Wilderness
faraway bay (the bush camp)
On the north-west corner of the vast Australian continent, there is a place so remote you won't find it on any map. So far away from anywhere, it was named Faraway Bay.
While the wildlife is prolific, the neighbours are not. With a maximum of just 12 guests at any time, your privacy is ensured. You can enjoy total peace on your own private patio lounging in a chair or cooling down under the spring-fed alfresco shower.
facilities
Perched on a headland overlooking remote and tranquil Faraway Bay, Eagle Lodge is the heart and soul of The Bush Camp. This bush-built pole and corrugated iron structure is ideally suited to the climate and spectacular setting - and combines lounging, croc spotting, cooking and dining, all in one dramatic location.
Communal bathroom facilities feature invigorating solar-heated springwater showers - with windows overlooking the bay, and flush toilets. Our laundry is available for your use.
The Faraway Bay private airstrip is suitable for landing most light aircraft - it's just 4km from The Bush Camp. Helicopters may also land on our helipad at The Bush Camp.
Our plunge pool is refreshed constantly by crystal clear spring-fed water, and you'll be equally revived by its 180 degree views of the spectacular coastline.
Tee-off at our cliff top one-hole golf course.
The 13m ocean-going Diamond Lass and a range of smaller boats with skipper and guide are at your disposal at any time.

a typical day
Emerge from your secluded cabin to sit on the verandah and take in the 180 degree view of the bay to watch the soft hues of morning brighten, as the sun rises over the range.
Early risers can explore or walk along the beach before enjoying breakfast, in the open air Eagle Lodge, whilst watching the resident the sea eagles and brahminy kites swoop in for their feed.
Eagle Lodge is the perfect venue for lounging, dining, and daydreaming. Stake your claim on a hammock for the day. Review yesterday, plan tomorrow. Sit and drink in the ever-changing view. There's space to spare for you to be as solitary, or social, as you please.
Your day can be full and adventurous, calm and sedentary, or anything in between. At Faraway Bay, ‘going out for the day' takes on a whole new meaning. You can fill your days with a myriad of activities......
- Explore the secrets of this uncharted area, including hidden ancient Bradshaw art.
- 'Go bush' with your camera and lots of film to capture some snippets of this spectacular scenery and the amazing detail of the landscape to take home.
- Take a ‘dinghy taxi' and spend the day in glorious seclusion on your very own deserted beach. We'll pack the picnic basket.
- Go estuary fishing along mangrove-lined creeks or reef fishing off the idyllic coral strewn Lesueur Island.
- End your day with a refreshing plunge in the cliff top freshwater pool. Savour a beer or champagne overlooking the bay as the soft evening light transforms the view.
- Watch, from the window of your shower, the last rays dance across the rocks and water in a kaleidoscope of colour as day slips into night over Faraway Bay.
- Wander down for pre-dinner nibbles under the emerging stars. Then enjoy dining on the catch of the day, a barbeque or a camp oven roast, followed by delicious desserts and coffee.
- Ease into nature's rhythm on the patio, listen to the silence, marvel at the clarity of stars in the jet-black sky, or spot for the red eyes of a crocodile in the bay below.
- Drift off to sleep to the gentle sounds of the ocean.
- At the end of your stay you will most probably want just one more day to do NOTHING.
